Intersession begins in Frank McCourt

 FMHS began its Winter Intersession last week, ending their first semester. During Intersession, Upper House students get to pick on class they would take everyday for 3 hours, focusing on their passion. These classes range from the arts, to computer science. About a week before Intersession begins, students are sent a list of classes offered over the season. With these students extensively working hard on these classes, they would earn a full credit (as if they were in that class for a full semester). Students use this to gain more elective credits — or if they’ve failed a class in the past, they could get back in track. The classes offered this intersession are:
  • Website design (Elective Credit)
  • Action Research Internship (Internship Credit)
  • Public Relations Agency and Event Planning (English Credit)
  • RISK: The Game of Geopolitics (Government Credit)
  • Writing Workshop: Memoir (English Credit)
  • Beauty In Chaos (Math Credit)
  • Circuits (Physical Science Credit)
  •  Electroencephalography and Neuroanatomy (Life Science Credit)
  • Who Doesn’t Love Chocolate? (Physical Science Credit)

During these courses, students learn about their topics, and pick on a main project to work on. This project would then be showcased during the FMHS Winter Expo. As The Upper House gets close to the end of their second week of Intersession, most classes have already begun this project. The Expo will be on January 23rd.
